This approach connects our people more closely to the causes that matter most to them. It also gives associates the chance to get to know their co-workers in a different capacity, while experiencing the fulfillment that comes with giving back and helping others. In addition to focusing on social impacts in our own operations, we also seek to improve the focus on people and communities within our supplier’s supply chains.
Each associate is invited to the larger conversation around Avendra’s corporate citizenship and is encouraged to weigh in on how and where Avendra gets involved in the communities we touch and the charities which matter most to them. As a result, two to three dozen associate-selected charities are supported each year.
Designated Community Service for each associate
Every year, Avendra encourages each of its departments to spend a half-day doing community service together. Associates donate their time cleaning parks, packing lunches for children in need, working in the local food bank or assisting any number of local charities in many other ways.
Charity Denim Days
Associates who donate at least five dollars to the pre-selected charity are allowed to wear jeans to work. Causes are solicited from associates and range from medical foundations to disaster recovery efforts.
Avendra hosts semi-annual blood drives at our corporate headquarters to benefit local blood banks.
Food, School Supply, Toy & Clothing Drives
Throughout the year, Avendra associates donate food, school supplies, toys and clothes to local charity groups to support seasonal needs.

Balancing social impacts in the supply chain
Having a positive impact on people and communities is something that we focus on in our own operations. We also realize the influence we have within the supply chains that we oversee on behalf of our customers. Positive impacts on people and communities are a key component to a sustainable business. We seek to support the sustainability and corporate responsibility initiatives of our customers and encourage our suppliers to balance environmental, social and economic considerations in their businesses and supply chains.
