1. What do you do at Avendra International?
As a Regional Manager in Ireland, I cover ten counties, supporting our clients to reduce their costs and create efficiencies. I also collaborate with our Business Development Manager in the south, providing support where needed.
2. Can you tell us about your background and expertise in the industry?
I’ve spent over 20 years in the hospitality industry, beginning as a sous chef after graduating from the Dublin Institute of Technology in 2001 and progressing to Executive Chef, primarily within hotels. During this time, I also led three successful hotel openings, further developing my organisational and operational expertise.
This hands-on experience gives me a deep understanding of the daily pressures our clients face, allowing me to provide practical, well-informed support that helps them operate more efficiently and achieve better results.
3. How long have you been part of the Avendra International team?
Just over 8 years – though it doesn’t feel like it! Time really flies when you’re enjoying your job and the work you do.
4. What do you think about our team and company culture?
Our team is full of knowledge and experience coming from many different hospitality and foodservice backgrounds. It’s great to be able to tap into that, as there’s always something new to learn. Avendra International invests in its people too, as we can benefit from training and development opportunities.
5. What does a typical workday look like for you?
I usually start my day early, checking emails and getting back to client questions. A big part of my job is meeting with clients to make sure they’re getting the support they need.
I also work closely with our supply chain and suppliers, looking for new opportunities and reviewing pricing to show real value for clients. Supporting the team is just as important – whether it’s offering advice, a second opinion, or just being there when needed.
6. Can you share a project you’ve worked on that you’re particularly proud of?
I’ve been working with one of our client, PREM Group, since 2020, and a standout achievement was reviewing and standardising their breakfast offering across the group, which improved consistency and gross profit.
I also helped streamline their room amenities and successfully rolled out Pi, our in-house procurement system, which we’re really proud of. The system will help them simplify processes across their operations.
7. What’s one thing you’re excited about in the future for both your career and Avendra International?
Growth, both in my own role and across the business. I’m especially excited about new ideas and innovations coming through the supply chain, it’s always great to see the latest innovations and solutions to help support our clients.
8. Can you share a fun fact that people might not know about you?
I collect scented candles! My favourite brand is Back to Basics, based in Meath. I love their Lemongrass and Rosemary scent. My late mum used to give me a Yankee Candle advent calendar every Christmas, so it’s something that’s stuck with me.
