1. What do you do at Avendra International?
As the Head of Operations for the Ireland team, I oversee our day-to-day activities and help shape our strategic direction. I lead the pricing team, manage the rollout of new systems and processes, and work closely with all departments to ensure we’re operating efficiently. Ultimately, my role is about making sure our teams are set up to deliver the best possible service and value to our clients.
2. Can you tell us about your background and expertise in the industry?
I have over 15 years’ experience in administration and management, and I’m a qualified Accounting Technician. Before joining Avendra International, I worked mainly in health insurance and at the RSA. I originally joined the procurement world thinking I’d return to accounts, but I stayed because I really enjoyed it.
Over the past seven years, I’ve held four different roles within Avendra International, each helping me build deep knowledge of our industry and strong relationships with our suppliers. That hands-on experience across the business allows me to better support our teams and, in turn, our clients.
3. How long have you been part of the Avendra International team?
I’ve been with the business for seven years and have had the chance to grow and take on new roles throughout that time. It’s a fast-paced environment, but that’s what makes it so rewarding.
4. What do you think about our team and company culture?
The culture at Avendra International is incredibly supportive. We work in a busy environment, but there’s always someone ready to lend a hand. Our team brings a wide range of expertise, and we’re always learning from one another. The company also really invests in personal development, and I've had lots of opportunities to learn new skills and grow in my role. I always feel very supported in achieving my career goals.
5. What does a typical workday look like for you?
Every day is different, presenting new opportunities, and that’s what I love. No two days are the same! I work across a variety of projects and with many different stakeholders, so my days are full of meetings, planning, and problem-solving. The variety keeps things interesting and allows me to stay connected to all areas of the business, helping ensure our teams and systems are aligned.
6. Can you share a project you’ve worked on that you’re particularly proud of?
This year, I led a major upgrade of our back-office system, including the rollout and training for the Ireland team. It was great to see the project through from start to finish. We added new features and streamlined processes, which have made it easier for our teams to work efficiently and focus more on delivering great service.
7. What’s one thing you’re excited about in the future for both your career and Avendra International?
There are some new, exciting innovations in the pipeline around new suppliers, products, and technology. I’m looking forward to seeing how these developments can enhance what we offer to our clients. I’m also excited to collaborate more with our wider European teams and explore new ways to bring value across markets.
8. Can you share a fun fact that people might not know about you?
I only learned to swim when I turned 30! I used to be afraid of the water, but now I love it and go sea swimming regularly. Since we’re in Ireland, that usually means a lot of time spent saying “Ahhh, it’s freezing!” – but I always feel great afterwards.
