Marcus Hotels & Resorts owns and/or manages 20 hotels, resorts and other hospitality properties in the U.S. The company’s distinctive portfolio includes city-center meeting hotels, upscale resorts, historic properties, and premium branded and independent first-class hotels. Since 2013, the hotel company has been relying on Avendra as its procurement services provider. Together Marcus and Avendra are working towards standardizing the purchasing process for all businesses in the enterprise portfolio.

How are you using Avendra’s services?
- The Avendra “Cuttings” program lets us evaluate products like regional meats before we buy. We recently completed a Breakfast Cuttings that identified the best items to use for both our banquets and our restaurants.
- Avendra’s on property, detailed business reviews are excellent — happening approximately 2 times per year. When unexpected problems do arise, the Avendra team manages the situation quickly. For example, we may contract with a supplier who is making a product overseas. When the product shows up and it’s not right, we can count on Avendra to help resolve the issue.
- Avendra’s quarterly Supplier Diversity Opportunity Reports are especially helpful. The report provides an overview of how much money we spend with minority-owned businesses. Generating this report would be challenging if we had to do it on our own.
- The Avendra Alcohol program is another innovative program that we utilize. Our first beverage tasting of Avendra’s Conceire label product was in January 2019. Compared to our existing well brands, the Avendra offerings were as-good-as or better than what we were offering. Since implementing this program, our beverage costs are down system wide and we have been receiving positive feedback from our guests.“
