What is it about the hospitality industry, and clubs in particular, that excites you?
It’s my desire to always have a positive impact on someone’s day. This industry is full of extremely hard-working people and being able to impact someone personally through acts of service, effective communication, or some other kind gesture or friendly smile is extremely powerful.
Whether in operations or the back end in procurement and supply chain, this industry is powered by people. Working with private clubs has allowed me to build multi-level relationships with coworkers, club members, and other hospitality/club professionals. It’s an extremely tight-knit group with lots of support, mentorship, and growth opportunities. Visiting clubs to learn about their diverse histories, cultures, and operations offers me the chance to meet an array of club professionals. I enjoy engaging creatively with each club to continually evolve and elevate its member experience.
What does a “best day” at Avendra look like for you and your team?
Our best days are when we’re out working with our club clients and meeting prospective clubs. We have taken huge strides to build the ever-important relationships the club industry is built on. We are fortunate to work with world-class private clubs across the nation.
My unique role allows me to engage with prospect clubs on the sales side and continue to serve them as an account manager when they sign on with Avendra. I enjoy working with clubs on new initiatives, finding areas to reduce costs and elevate quality, and being an extension of my clients’ purchasing departments.
A perfect day is being out visiting some of the best clubs in the nation and building relationships with club industry professionals.
Can you share an adventure you’ve had exploring the clubs industry personally?
My wife and I recently traveled to Spain for my brother’s wedding. It was the trip of a lifetime and included a day at Club de Golf Alcanada in Mallorca. Annually, they host a European Tour Rolex Series Event and provide a high-end hospitality experience from golf to food and beverage.
It was my first time playing golf in another country, and spending the day at this amazing club was incredible. Languages, cultures, and cuisines are all different across the world, but an amazing hospitality experience is universal!
